Would you like the opportunity to gain a BEng (Hons) Engineering: Design and Manufacturing qualification whilst working within an experienced Engineering Team? GE Caledonian is a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul provider within a growing industry that is consistently investing in state of the art technology. Reporting to the Engineering Leader, as part of the wider Engineering Team, you will be exposed to all aspects of the business from hands on experience through to supporting the design teams across a diverse global Engineering group. During this 4 years fixed term contract you will attend Strathclyde University monthly and participate in their Graduate Apprenticeship program where you will be required to demonstrate satisfactory progress towards achieving a BEng (Hons) in Design and Manufacturing.

Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities

  • Championing key site deliverables of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and adoption of Lean principles.

  • Develop knowledge across all aspects of the Engineering Team, workscoping, shop operations, repair, assembly and engine test.

  • Work closely with SPO team, EH&S, Maintenance, Operations and NPI Project Leader in adherence to GE Aviation Management of Change requirements on projects and minor site changes.

  • Utilise knowledge and experience to close out audit findings and quality reports through RCCA.

  • Gain familiarity with technical documentation to ensure adherence to quality and driving efficiency throughout processes.  

  • Participate in the sites general engineering activities and issues including existing daily shop management structures.

  • It is intended that the scope of this role may develop as successful candidate’s knowledge and experience grows.

  • Demonstrate satisfactory progress towards BEng (Hons) in Design and Manufacturing

Required Qualifications

Applicants will have 4 Highers, (minimum B grades) including Maths and Physics

Eligibility

To be eligible for full GA funding, the applicants:

  • Must have settled status and been living in the United Kingdom (UK), the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.

  • Must have been living in one of these places for the three years immediately before the start of the course.

  • Must also be living (ordinarily resident) in Scotland from or before 1st August.
