We have an immediate, career growth opportunity for a mid-career Industrial Engineer who will drive business and process improvements across multiple manufacturing and transactional processes by designing, improving, and implementing integrated systems of people, materials, data, and equipment.
This is an Onsite role at our Largo, FL site, relocation is not provided.
You will draw upon your specialized knowledge and skill in the mathematical, physical, and social sciences - together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design - to specify, predict, evaluate, and improve the business results of the site.
The Industrial Engineer leads initiatives which incorporate best practices in areas such as six sigma, lean manufacturing, and theory of constraints to eliminate process variation and production waste, reduce lead-times, improve process flow, evaluate available capacity, evaluate data and metrics to create gains in efficiencies with the ability to translate results into tangible benefits related to KPI’s.
What You Will Do:
- Reviews existing operations, documenting product and information using tools including value stream maps and process flow diagrams; develops recommendations for process improvements; and leads the implementation of the recommendations.
- Leads factory layout initiatives for optimal process flow and material levels, Kanban levels, and material presentation.
- Leads Lean events and mentors cross-functional teams on use of Lean principles & tools.
- Identifies needs for manufacturing simulation models; leads data collection and analysis efforts to support model creation and modifications; builds capacity models and makes recommendations based on the model outputs.
- Investigates performance KIPs/metrics and variances; performs cost/benefit analysis and trade-off studies for methods and productivity improvements. Partners with support team including Front Line Leaders (FLLs) on improvement actions.
- Leads 5S and tour prep, supports Tier board management and improvements, and audit compliance.
- Supports new proposals; coordinates data collection based on historical information.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires: Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
- Prior experience working in a Lean environment with demonstrated understanding of Lean principles.
- Experience leading a team or project to include demonstrated strong teaming skills to work with multiple levels of stakeholders (floor operators, peers, management, etc.).
- Requires strong oral and written communication skills to include experience creating and facilitating presentations and writing technical reports.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data collection, analysis, and cost benefits.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
- 12 years of professional experience in a related discipline, such as Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, etc.
- Proficiency in Lean Principles, Six Sigma and Theory of Constraints methodologies and tools
- Six Sigma Blackbelt certification, CORE certification, Shingo certification, or equivalent
- Proficient in Process Simulations; focus on system optimization and transformation
- Demonstrated knowledge in Automated Manufacturing and digital manufacturing tools and techniques (such as 3D modeling)
- Managing project implementation at multiple factories / locations
- Change management skills – a self-motivated change agent with bias for action and a sense of urgency
- Knowledge in SAP or MRP systems
- Transitioning development products to a production environment
- Experience as a Front Line Supervisor
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Operations, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or related field

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
