The role:

Innovation Engineer - Technologist  - 12 month Fixed Term Contract

Do you have a passion for leveraging innovative technology to drive innovation and efficiency? We are looking for a skilled Innovation Engineer with deep expertise across a broad spectrum of modern technologies to join our Business Improvement and Innovation team within the Engineering department. As a Technologist Innovation Engineer, you will play a critical role in transforming strategic initiatives into practical, technology-driven solutions that enhance our operations and propel our business forward.

In this dynamic role, you’ll collaborate with business partners and technology experts to develop proofs of concept, craft business cases, and implement innovative solutions across various technological domains, including web technologies, cloud computing, AI, robotics, AR/VR, and data analytics. Your work will be at the heart of ensuring that our processes are equipped with the latest technological advancements to stay ahead of the curve.

What you’ll do:
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and research across a broad range of technological areas.
  • Develop and implement solutions to improve processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate broad technological knowledge into Engineering operations.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to control and evaluate the success of improvement initiatives.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
  • Broad proficiency in modern technologies, including web technologies, computing, cloud computing, data analytics, AI, robotics, augmented and virtual reality, and networks.
  • Strong analytical and research skills to identify and solve complex technological problems.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying complex information.
  • Proficiency in developing proofs of concept and business cases for technological solutions.
  • Skilled in project and change management to drive successful implementation of new technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and applying new technological advancements.
  • Proficiency in tools and platforms relevant to a broad range of modern technologies.

Your experience:
  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Web development, Computer Science, Data Analytics, etc.).
  • Additional certifications or training in relevant technologies or methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience in a technology-driven role, with a strong track record in implementing innovative solutions and driving technological advancements.
  • Experience of implementing change and driving process improvements in an operational environment.
