Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Execute the combustion aero design/analysis/evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards and product/program requirements following best practices and standard lean 6-sigma approaches.
  • Lead the development, analysis, and testing of low-emission combustor designs focused on aero and thermo-acoustics.
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules, and contract commitments.
  • Interact with co-workers within GE combustion community and external partners to establish best practices and technical achievements.
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments at all senior leadership levels.
  • Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks.
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
  • Lead national/European research projects supporting the development of advanced low emission combustion technologies for future applications.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • MS in combustion aero with focus on aero design, emissions and aeroacoustics.
  • Several years industrial experience in combustion aero for gas turbine applications, in particular on designing and optimizing of combustion systems by CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) methods to meet customer and regulators requirements.
  • Expert in CAE including high-fidelity 3D LES, 3D FEM and 1D network codes.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to communicate at a variety of levels, from detailed design reviews to high-level leadership reviews
  • Strong leadership skills capable of leading technical teams to execute assigned projects meeting deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of combustion fundamentals, combustor aero design, combustor testing, combustion dynamics and their application to new aero engine concepts and in-service products.
  • Effective in contributing to a cross-functional teamwork environment.

Desired Characteristics:

  • PhD in combustion aero with focus on high-fidelity CFD or on experimental testing including application of advanced, optical measurement techniques, emissions and aeroacoustics.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with capabilities to work in international environments.
  • Working knowledge of current and oncoming aero-engine emission certification requirements (EASA/FAA), procedures and application to latest aero engine products.
  • Proven track record of conceiving, designing, carrying out and interpreting results of aero engine or gas turbine combustion aero designs, in particular for emissions.
  • Knowledge of Export Control regulations.
  • Six-Sigma Green Belt certified.
  • Aviation tagger certified.
