An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Principal HSE Engineer for Safety within the Health Safety & Environmental organization of Intelligrated (IGS) and Smart Energy Thermal Solutions (SETS) business. Reporting to the Sr Director of HSE for IGS and SETS business, this position will provide technical leadership, direct functional oversight and support for compliance programs and management systems for two of Industrial Automations (IA) Businesses. Leadership accountability will be focused on driving safety compliance improvements that ensure full compliance with all governmental and Honeywell requirements. The Principal HSE Engineer is also a key person in leading the implementation & full integration of the HSE management systems.
Position Responsibilities:
- Partner with business and Industrial Automation HSE resources to provide technical expertise on issues involving compliance with and interpretation of federal, state and local requirements, rules and regulations.
- Partner with site HSE resources and site leadership to meet IA projects and deadlines.
- Coach and mentor site Safety resources within the IGS and SETS Portfolio.
- Accountable for conducting periodic compliance reviews and audits of respective business sites to assure compliance with safety management requirements. Participates in Corporate HSEPS audit process.
- Accountable for reviewing and communicating new legal and other requirements to the appropriate members of business and site leadership resources.
- Co-accountable with Business and Site HSE leaders for assuring the factories fully implement required elements of the
- Honeywell HSE Management System, and Accelerator-related activities.
- Partner with the business leadership and HSE professionals to drive continual improvement of safety functional programs, procedures and performance.
- Lead or participate in significant safety related incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Verify Assessments in MST and compliance assurance letter process in support of factory leadership in the business.
- Assist in resolving potential safety non-compliance and enforcement actions, claims, disputes and litigation regarding HSE matters.

You Must Have:
- Minimum of 10 years safety management in support of chemical manufacturing is required.
We Value:
- A Bachelors of Science in engineering, chemistry, environmental, safety science or a related science or technical field is required.
- Advanced degree in engineering or HSE is preferred; professional certifications a plus.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
- Experience applying occupational safety principles in Manufacturing, R&D, and Field Service applications.
- Knowledge of and direct experience in HSE auditing, management systems, and OSHAs Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) is also a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, verbally and in writing. Able to interact with factory floor employees as well as business and operations leaders to establish credibility and influence direction.
- Judgment and a strong ethical framework, allowing the individual to make correct decisions instinctively, balanced with an appreciation for the pressures which businesspeople confront.
