Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Apply solid engineering principles to power electronics design, analysis, and verification activities, compliant to robust product requirements and relevant business practices.
  • Provide technical leadership to ensure that power electronics activities remain on track - by identifying, communicating, and resolving significant issues or developments, in collaboration with technical and project leaders.
  • Authorise detailed technical documentation consistent with engineering policies and procedures, leading and influencing project and customer reviews as required.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and coaching to other team members, and actively contribute to process improvement activities.
  • Remain current in knowledge of power distribution and switching technologies.
  • Capable of fulfilling small team leadership opportunities.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Relevant Engineering Degree (or equivalent), with full lifecycle domain expertise
  • Significant experience of power electronics design for AC & DC power distribution
  • Strong influencing, problem solving and solution building skills – including at a customer level.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex design concepts – both orally and written - and make decisions based on sound judgement.
  • Demonstrable technical leadership ability in a multi-disciplined environment, along with strong interpersonal skills
  • Willing to work on military platforms.

Desirable Characteristics

  • Experience in power electronics design for aviation, automotive or similar safety critical applications, in an NPI environment.
  • Familiarity with engineering tools including Xpedition, SIMetrix, DOORS, Windchill.
  • Demonstrable application of Design for Manufacture/Test (DFM/DFT) considerations.
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring.
