The Mechanical Design Engineer will support new designs of secondary structures, interiors, cockpit instrument panels, LRU installations, and
other miscellaneous interior and mechanical systems based on customer specifications, with minimal
supervision. Use analytical skills, particularly attention to detail, to learn and practice successful design. This
includes learning how to plan, schedule, correct, and document the design, eventually performing design
independently. Job duties are performed while maintaining regular communications with the team in a
supportive manner.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Maintain knowledge of general mechanical, structural, and wire routing principles
Continually research and find appropriate guidance for design principles
Read customer specifications and determine work scope
Develop interior, mechanical, and structural drawings per customer specification.
Ensure installation design data conforms to applicable regulations and can be approved on
the aircraft.
Assist in completing the required documentation to obtain design approval through both STC
and Mod processes.
Develop test procedures to evaluate new mechanical system designs.
Take lead on small design projects
Draft on CAD program – 2D & 3D. Catia V5 is preferred.
Ensure company procedures and processes are followed
Assist in resolving production related issues
May be required to support mechanical/structural efforts at other DAS locations/sites

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or other engineering related field.
Completed, relevant education from an accredited college or university may be substituted
for years of relevant work experience. 1 year of education 2 years of experience.
Two (2) years of experience with corporate aircraft.
Working knowledge of CATIA V5, Solidworks, Autocad, or similar.
Must have strong organizational and planning skills.
Strong attention to details
Good communication skills, both orally and written
Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suites
Must be able to work in and around aircraft (requires stooping, kneeling, and climbing
ladders/scaffolds) with or without reasonable accommodation
Knowledge of mechanical, structural, and static design concepts and methodologies.
Knowledge of secondary structure and associated interior aircraft modifications/alterations.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to read engineering drawings
Drafting experience
Familiarity with FAA requirements FAR Part 25.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to work at desk and computer for significant portion of the day. Must be willing to fly on occasion.
