As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

Since then, British Airways has gone on to deliver game-changing achievements. First we broke the record for the fastest transatlantic flight with Concorde. Then we became the very first airline to introduce fully lie-flat seats on board.

It was our exceptional engineering teams that brought these pioneering and original ideas to life.

This is your chance to join one of the most diverse and innovative departments at British Airways, at a time when we’re re-imagining the way we fly the skies.

The role:

Maintrol Technical Engineer

At this time we are looking to recruit highly motivated candidates that will be joining our MAINTROL team within the Engineering organisation. Our MAINTROL engineers support the whole BA Mainline fleet as well as the BA Euroflyer fleet. The successful candidates will be offered a position in our Integrated Operations Centre (IOC), based at the BA HQ in Waterside (Heathrow airport).

What you’ll do:

Based in the BA IOC, Maintrol is the key team that provides 24/7 engineering coordination and management for the whole operating fleet world-wide, leading professionals (internal and external suppliers), liaising directly with operating crews, Global Operations, Ramp / Line Maintenance, Aircraft Maintenance production areas and 3rd party service providers to ensure a safe, reliable and consistent operation. Maintrol is at the very heart of the BA Engineering Operations and provides a great exposure to almost all activities within BA operations.

All Maintrol engineers are responsible for leading the Engineering activities to prevent and/or recover AOGs worldwide, driving safe, efficient and expedient actions in support of Engineering and Airline operational needs.

Please note these positions are shift based roles. As your career develops in MAINTROL you will get the opportunity to participate in specialist training including type training, manufacturer delivered systems training and several internal career development options.

Should you be willing to take the challenge, this is an excellent opportunity for you to develop your career in a very dynamic and demanding role.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

We are looking for licence engineers who have experience in aircraft maintenance (as a B1/B2 license holder) or within experience in Maintrol Control Centres within Operational environments.

Your experience:

The candidate will need to have an Engineering technical background as a license engineer with the ability to hold CAA / EASA approvals and BA company approvals, hold an HNC / HND or equivalent in an Aerospace Engineering subject, recognised Aircraft Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience, B1 / B2 Licence without Type rating, the ability to hold and exercise EASA. Part 145 Technical Engineer / Part21 CCE or CVE approvals will also be a qualification to highly consider for the role.

What we offer:

As an airline, we never want to stand still. The same goes for our people.

We’re committed to upskilling our engineers and providing professional development training so you can progress in your area of expertise. That way, you’ll attain the highest levels of professional achievement as we continue to invest in new technology, equipment, and aircraft.

Training modules are offered through self-study courses, or structured learning programmes, and delivered at our state-of-the-art Learning Academy at London Heathrow.

When you work in an engineering role at British Airways, you’ll be joining a high-performance culture. It’s a time-pressured environment too, but the challenges here are exciting and diverse, and you’ll be part of projects you won’t find anywhere else. That’s what keeps our exceptional colleagues inspired to do their best work. We also offer fantastic rewards, including great staff travel benefits.

Inclusion & Diversity

At British Airways we all have a part to play in creating an inclusive place to work. Diverse representation among our people is really important to us and we recognise that all our colleagues are uniquely different and bring their own originality, creativity and identity to work.

Inclusion and diversity is a key driver of innovation and we’re committed to creating a culture where everyone feels that they can be themselves. We’re looking for people from all backgrounds and cultures to join us and be a part of our journey to become a Better BA as we continue to connect Britain with the world and the world with Britain.
