Essential Responsibilities

  • Support shop floor to deliver business results while encouraging input from area personnel working within a self-directed workforce (Teaming) environment.
  • Exhibit ownership and take responsibility in attaining all aspects of production operation including safety, scheduling, quality, and team development in assigned areas.
  • Determine safe manufacturing processes that produce a quality product in the most efficient method of manufacture.
  • Design and implement manufacturing processes and systems for control and replenishment of materials.
  • Plan and implement process-engineering activities for new product development and current product support.
  • Provide manufacturing method development and improvement for current and new products.
  • Participate in the development of mid and long term plans outlining projects to support the business in meeting its objectives with a strong focus on cost, part quality and cycle time.
  • Conduct training, process planning, evaluate operating methods, select controls, and specifies tools, fixtures, and gages necessary to repeatedly build conforming hardware.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Assist production coaches and associates in resolving manufacturing process problems through a drive to root cause and permanent corrective action. Explains technical information to others.
  • Execute manufacturing-related quality planning activities.
  • Pursue continuous improvement for quality and cost reductions in designated area.
  • Promote internal and external customer satisfaction and develop positive design engineering relationships.
  • Act as change agent, understanding and moving the operation toward benchmarked, best of class performance.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or institution (OR a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in machining or related technical processes in a manufacturing environment).
  • Experience in machining or related technical processes in a manufacturing environment

  • Electrical discharge machining (EDM) a plus.
  • Ability to make data driven decisions and utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools.
  • Knowledge of ISO / quality procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
