Engineering Product Integrity has an opening for a Reliability, Safety, and Maintainability (RMS) Project Lead to work on the next generation of Pratt & Whitney military aircraft engines. This Project Engineering position will support the program RMS Project lead efforts to analyze the system design and establish requirements that drive safety and reliability into the design to ensure the safety of P&W products is world class. The lead will be responsible for technical development of analysis that demonstrates that the system design meets safety and reliability requirements and serves as evidence for certification and/or acceptance by the regulator or acquiring authority.
As a member of a systems team, you will work collaboratively with the best and brightest designers and engineers the industry has to offer. Together you will analyze the system design and establish requirements that drive safety, reliability and maintainability into the design to ensure the safety of P&W products is world class. Our team is responsible for evaluating the engine design from a system engineering approach and requires a big picture perspective on the design process from beginning to end.
What You Will Do
- Assist the RMS discipline manager with day-to-day leadership of a small project team (3-5 heads) in executing the safety, reliability and maintainability processes on an engine development program.
- Be the PW focal for Reliability, Safety and Maintainability to the engine development program, supporting P&W Integrated Product Teams, Program Chief Engineer, Airframe manufacturers, Suppliers, and Customers in reviewing, assessing, and influencing engine designs to optimize safety-related metrics and assure safety certification requirements (Mil-Hdbk-516C and Mil-Std-882) are met.
- Lead and contribute to reliability and safety design requirements based on derivation of the customer specification, creating reliability, maintainability/human factors, and safety design assessment artifacts in accordance with engineering standard work.
- Drive reliability and safety in subsystem IPT, CIPT and SIPT integration activities, and reviews with internal and external customers and air system contractors.
- Leading Safety and Reliability customer technical interchange meetings, Safety Working Group Meetings, driving reliability and safety in subsystem IPT, CIPT and SIPT integration activities and reviews with internal and external customers and air system contractors.
- Support the program in meeting budget commitments through project planning, earned value analysis, and reporting. Act as the RMS Project Agile Product Owner to lead the integrated teams Agile development efforts in support of program technical, schedule, and cost objectives
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
- 8 years of experience in Engineering or 5 years of engineering experience with an advance degree.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position will require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience delivering presentations at all leadership levels.
- Experience with military aircraft and or engine engineering processes.
- Experience using or developing reliability tools and processes such as Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) or Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Experience in Microsoft Office tools (specifically Excel) and electronic databases to perform quantitative reliability and safety analysis.
- Experience in Model Based System Engineering methodology. Familiarity with Cameo Systems Modeler.

This position is open to internal applicants only within Pratt & Whitney. To help shore up our military programs, we are looking to reallocate resources to USG direct charging roles and therefore consider this to be an internal to Pratt movement. We may look to open these opportunities upon more broadly once we complete the initial Pratt talent moves.
The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
