PROFILE
The Test Department of GKN Filton provides a Non Destructive Test (NDT) service to the Manufacturing and Design & Engineering functions of GKN. One method of NDT is Radiographic Testing (Film (RT) / Digital (DRT)).
The Job Holder will be responsible for operating a radiographic facility unsupervised that performs RT on various types of aircraft, and non-aircraft, materials, components and structures. A fundamental aspect of the role is certifying product meets specified criteria. Typical examples of product are:-
- Thin Walled Aluminium fabrications.
- Titanium and stainless Steel ducting.
- Aerospace components and structures
KEY DELIVERABLES
- Supervising Level 1 and Radiographic trainees as applicable
- Ensuring all relevant process control checks are carried out
- Creating RT Instructions as required
- Performing RT Inspections
- Provide reports on NDT matters as required
- Communication with Customers and Suppliers as required
- Compliance with all Health & Safety requirements
KEY SKILLS
The Job Holder shall be:
- Qualified to EN4179 Level 2 Aerospace RT & DRT
- Knowledgeable of material specifications and their associated testing criterion.
- Capable of producing concise reports on test results.
- Conversant with Microsoft Office IT Process’.
- Verbally proficient to discuss test results with all levels of staff.
- Classified as a Radiation Worker in accordance with IRR 2017.
Regardless of qualification status, successful candidates will be required to undertake and pass local specific and practical examinations in accordance with GKN Work Instruction.
