The network engineer will work in a team environment supporting the customer and numerous mission partners in building, configuring and deploying various networking equipment throughout the lifecycle of routers, switches, firewalls, etc. Most of the networking gear is part of the Cisco family, working with Cisco script, however, there will be projects that involve Juniper and encryptor support. The network engineer will be involved in troubleshooting any issues that arise during implementation or refreshing and recapping the network gear once it has been designated as End-of-Life or End-of-Sale.
The individual in this role reviews all incoming requirements for feasibility of implementation on existing network infrastructure. This involves working with an ITSM PM tool, ServiceNow, to manage projects, project tasks, setting deliverables and timelines; putting design and project work through engineering lifecycle and review boards. The individual will be working with optical teams to ensure smooth circuit transitions.
The selected candidate uses network management applications to answer questions concerning what is actually deployed in the network, analysis of existing utilization to assess likely impact to user experience or application performance. Being able to work with our workflow application Service Now, network analyzer, and performance tool such as NetIM are required.
