Job Description SummaryEdison Works, the military business unit of GE Aviation, is on the front line of developing advanced technology to support our nation’s defense. The Next Generation Products team is responsible for all future New Product Introduction (NPI) programs developing from GE Aviation’s investments in science and technology. This role is a Systems Qualification and PSIP role for a significant NPI program.

Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Propulsion System Integrity Program
  • Interact with customer to ensure PSIP document is created to standards and customer requirements
  • Provide technical leadership to internal personnel supporting the assigned PSIP activities
  • Support overall program Qualification and Certification activities
  • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

 

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • 6 years of experience in Systems Engineering or applicable discipline
  • Ability to maintain or obtain a Government Security Clearance
  • Experience in qualification and certification

 

Desired Characteristics
  • Active US Government Security Clearance
  • Experience in aviation engine qualification and certification
  • Masters degree from an accredited university or college
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data systems and form conclusions.
  • Demonstrated effective project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate technical discussions across multiple disciplines.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • High level of computer proficiency
  • Talented, highly motivated with good engineering judgment
  • Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional team work environment

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
