At Boeing, we are all innovators on a mission to connect, protect, explore and inspire. From the sea bed to outer space, you’ll learn and grow, contributing to work that shapes the world. Find your future with us.

OKC Electrical Engineering Group is seeking expert-level, critical systems-thinking and safety-minded engineers with diverse backgrounds to join the Systems Engineering and Integration Team (SEIT) team. The candidate will be directly participating in the development and growth of this critical engineering capability for Boeing and our Nations Warfighters. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for and have the opportunity to support a wide array of Nuclear Surety, Safety, and Security compliance, design, development, analysis, assessment, testing, and reporting activities. In performing this role, the candidate will engage directly with a number of other engineering disciplines as an integral member to assure that our products provide positive measures to prevent deliberate-unauthorized or inadvertent nuclear weapon functionality.  This will include providing adequate physical security to protect the nuclear asset.

Our culture values engineers that eagerly take responsibility for solving problems (their own and others); have an inherent bias towards taking action; set very high standards for themselves and for those with whom they work; passionately honor commitments, consistently deliver valuable results, strive to be the best, and think big and long term. We also find it important that our leaders are comfortable with open and honest discussion and will build consensus among the team.

This team will be responsible for requirements, safety, security and design compliance which will require assessment and evaluation skills.  The role of this team is to assure that architectures provide positive measures to prevent deliberate-unauthorized or inadvertent nuclear weapon functionality while providing adequate physical security to protect the nuclear asset.  Encompassing the Nuclear Surety pillars of DoDD 3150.02 is paramount to assure the safety of the United States’ Nuclear Enterprise.  Nuclear Surety Certification is a part of Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E), as directed by AFI 63-1201, Life Cycle System Engineering. Other areas this team will cover are Air Force Instruction (AFI) 63-125 “Air Force Nuclear Certification Program”, the AFI 91-XXX series instructions, and the detailed design criteria provided by Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 91-118 and 91-119.

Expert engineer responsibilities include mentoring and coaching all levels of engineers providing knowledge transfer to aid in growing our next generation of leaders and engineers.  Additional senior engineer responsibilities include cross platform, cross site, and cross business unit collaboration. This position will be expected to provide program support in a manner that ensures: successful Program execution; development and implementation of viable schedules and resource plans along with effective coordination and communication with all BDS, BGS, BR&T, ET&T and BCA site projects associated with Nuclear Surety.

The candidate must excel in an innovative, rapid paced environment with challenging and sometimes ambiguous requirements. The candidate must be able to develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. The candidate must also provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to function within government convened Interface Control Working Groups (ICWGs), Nuclear Surety Working Groups (NSWGs), Project Officer Groups (POGs), and the Nuclear Weapon System Surety Group (NWSSG) which require extensive communications and negotiations skills as these groups will include DoD, DOE and contractors from other programs.

Other job responsibilities may include…

  • Successful candidates will apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to the full range of Nuclear Surety activities required to plan, develop, integrate, and verify for future certification Weapon Systems design including the activities of: Hardware/Software/System Level requirements derivation, development, flow-down, and management; verification planning; test procedure development, conduct, and analysis; and interface development and management.  The results of these activities provide the basis for Nuclear Surety requirements analysis, certification planning, and certification package content.
  • Successful candidates will apply a rigorous systems approach considering: concepts of operation, system-of-system interactions, and a number of multi-disciplinary engineering skillsets to ensure the products, platforms, and overall weapon system is safe, secure, and assured.
  • The selected candidates will also be responsible for developing innovative approaches to collecting, managing, and efficiently correlating the large volume of data required as part of the Nuclear Surety process.  The candidate will need to develop close relationships with multiple program teams, engineering teams, and customer organizations across several geographic locations in order to influence, negotiate, and ensure timely completion of Nuclear Surety activities and a System Level Nuclear Surety solution.   The candidate will also help develop early-career employees on the team through mentoring, coaching, and project leadership skills related to integration and certification.
