OnsiteCollins Aerospace is looking for a Principal Project Engineer, Composites to work at our Engineered Polymer Products (EPP)division, located in Jacksonville, Florida. You will be supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and Research and Development (R&D) projects. You will have an opportunity to work hands-on with the fabrication process for new composite & polymer products. You will be part of a team that is developing and manufacturing advanced, high-performance composites in marine applications for surface ships and submarines for the U.S. Navy.
- Position is working onsite at our Blount Island Jacksonville FL facility.

What You Will Do
- Composite part design and analysis
- Development and generation of engineering product drawings and specifications
- Composite material property characterization and qualification
- Development and generation of manufacturing work instructions
- Focus on process development and new product introduction
- Provide first article manufacturing support and oversight
- Hands-on work supporting part fabrication, evaluation, and testing
- Ensure and support on time delivery of products to meet the customers’ needs
- Work with floor supervisors and technicians to achieve schedule and address technical issues
- Interface with the customer’s to ensure product/process requirements are being met
- Communicate and present technical data to senior level leadership
- Travel up to 5 domestically when circumstances permit
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications You Must Have
- Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and typically a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and typically a minimum of 5 years of experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- Experience with composite material processing, for example prepreg and/or infusion methods
- Knowledgeable of composite material mechanical properties
- Experience with a 3D modeling software
- Experience establishing and tracking a project and/or program schedule utilizing MS Project or equivalent software program
Qualifications We Prefer
- Master’s degree in Mechanical or Materials engineering or similar degrees
- Basic understanding of performing FEA, preferably Abaqus CAE
- Experience with composite mold design
- Experience with composite ply design and ply flattening
- Experience with urethane materials and urethane material processing
- Experience with fabricating bonded assemblies
- Experience with Solidworks for both 3D models and 2D drawings
- Experience with GD&T
- Knowledge of mechanics of materials and basic mechanical analysis
- Knowledge of mechanical vibrations and modal analysis

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
