We have an opening for a Project Manager: Electrical Engineering to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Tactical Space organization. This position will be located in Dulles, VA.
In this role you will:
- Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management
- Review status of projects and budgets
- Manage schedules and prepare status reports
- Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives
- Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients
Responsibilities:
- Engage and collaborate with program and functional organizations (from individual contributors to executive staff) to obtain, understand, and interpret program resource needs to effectively meet program milestones.
- Manage and maintain the day-to-day interfaces and communications between the Program Management Office (PMO), Engineering Directorate, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain (SCM). Resolve issues spanning across functional area.
- Baseline, Manage, Control, and Close project(s) using a project management framework approach.
- Coordinate control account cost and schedule performance through program life cycle
- Assess, track, and mitigate cost and schedule risk supported by quantitative and predictive analyses.
- Facilitating internal meetings in a way to support design, production, and problem resolutions.
- Initiate and maintain program subcontracts as well as intra-company work orders in support of program financial and schedule performance.
- Utilize fundamental engineering principles to facilitate production and design changes within the project team that result in superior products within the program budget.
- Support proposal efforts, including but not limited to generation of Basis of Estimate and schedules.
To be successful you should have:
- Experience leading a cost account to include conducting Earned Value (EVMS) cost -control
- Experience leading a multi-discipline team in design & development of a new product
- Experience managing and directing subcontracts
- Project Management experience in an engineering and/or manufacturing environment such as harness, electrical power, command and data handling, test engineering, ground support design & development, and/or RF engineering
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project
Basic Qualifications:
Principal
- 5 years of experience with a STEM Bachelor’s degree (3+ years with a Masters.)
- Experience in Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
- Experience managing a multi-discipline team
- Experience managing an engineering budget and schedule
- Proficient in MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point
- Demonstrated ability working with cross organizational teams and customers.
- Demonstrated ability to present and communicate to variety of audiences from peers to senior leadership.
Basic Qualifications:
Sr Principal
- 9+ years of experience with a STEM Bachelor’s degree (7+ years with a Masters.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Business Management
- Completed certification /training course in Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
- Project Management Professions (PMP) certification
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance per business requirements (US citizenship required)
- Experience working in Manufacturing, Test, Production, Manufacturing
- Experience managing and directing subcontracts
- active TS security clearance at time of application

Salary Range: $91,200 - $136,800
Salary Range 2: $113,500 - $170,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
