Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Propulsion Engineer to join our Conceptual Design and Flight Performance team. This position will be at our Propulsion Systems Division facility located in Promontory, UT with periodic assignments at our Bacchus (Magna), UT location

Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects of conceptual rocket motor design, flight performance and system-level design and analysis, including
Develop new concepts for use in spaneting, proposal, and programmatic efforts that help shape the future of our business
Present technical solutions and information to engineering organizations, internal and external customers, and to company leadership.
Perform trajectory analysis of launch vehicles, missiles, and sounding rockets
Design and optimize conceptual propulsion elements and vehicles
Solve a variety of challenging, often open-ended, aerospace engineering problems
Basic Qualifications:
This position can be filled at either a level 3 or level 4.

Required Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly present technical information
Proven ability to be flexible in work assignments, which may vary frequently from tasks including analysis, design, project engineering, systems engineering, etc.
Programming language(s): Python, Matlab, C++ or other
Demonstrated experience conducting system-level trade and sensitivity studies
Working knowledge of solid rocket motor design and performance
Working knowledge of launch vehicles and their designs
Trajectory simulation of launch vehicles
Strong problem-solving skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
General computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
Orbital mechanics and interplanetary mission design
Aerodynamics and/or loads & environments
Launch vehicle CONOPS
Experience in optimization
Able to see how the system works (big picture) while working on individual components (details)

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Salary Range: $95,300 - $142,900
Salary Range 2: $118,600 - $178,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
