ABOUT THE ROLE
The Process Safety Engineer, with a chemical and engineering focus, is a key leadership role within the Energy and Sustainability Solutions organization.u202F You will report directly to the site Sr. HSE Manager but work closely with the site maintenance and engineering teams to develop and steer a robust practice of mechanical integrity including, Inspection, Testing, and Preventative Maintenance (ITPM) procedures.u202F You will be the key HSE resource at the facility to support the site engineering and operations team directing Process Safety Management (PSM) programs through incorporation of impactful operating processes and keeping in front of leading practices in appropriate standards.u202F
This role will report to1953 South Harvey St, Muskegon, MI 49442.
Key HSE Responsibilities:
- Provide program development, drive, and implementation of the Process Safety Management (PSM) system.
- Maintain metrics related to PSM and HSE including but not limited to; on-time action completion, compliance action completion, incident investigations, program maturity improvement, energy reduction, etc.
- Coordinate with HSE team on PSM standards.
- Provides technical assistance to engineering, operations, and maintenance for compliance with PSM elements.
- Job Site compliance reviews for permit compliance and standard verifications including hot work, confined space, lock tag try, and others as needed.
- Ensures compliance standards to includeu202FUS EPA 40 CFR (experience helpful) and applicable State Regulations for Air, Water and Waste
- Prepares and submits required Regulatory Agency reports.
- Conducts or arranges exposure monitoring including sampling and analyses in accordance with accepted methods.
- Effective coach andu202Frole model for production leaders; leads PSM initiatives, Best Practice sharing among location groups and other similar manufacturing locations.
- Drivesu202Fstandard work for environmental processes. Risk Managementu202FProgram as applicable.
- Capital expense projects; lead, liaison, and support projects throughout the preparation and funding steps.
YOU MUST HAVE
- 4+ years experience in HSE and Process Safety Management.
WE VALUE
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related fields.
- Chemical processing background.
- Lean/Six Sigma Greenbelt certified or willing to become certified in first 12 months.
- Process Safety Management experience.
- Knowledge of Dangerous Goods, First Aid practices, environmental and industrial hygiene practices.
- Experience participating in audits and implementing HSE management systems.
