Location: Luton - 3 days per week

Our Quality Engineering Manager will be the champion for one of our key strategic Customer Platform programmes to position easyJet as a leading digital, data-driven airline.

The QE community is highly collaborative and works across a broad range of stakeholders within Technology, acting as ambassadors for quality to help create a culture of quality and adherence to our established QA standards and practices.

At easyJet, we have a hybrid working model which sees our staff working from home and visiting our offices in Luton. 

Job Accountabilities

  • Responsible for defining and implementing the Test Strategy for one of easyJet’s key Customer Platform programmes and championing adherence to it
  • Responsible for implementing the QE principles and acting as an advocate for change and continually look for opportunities to improve the way in which the teams work
  • Responsible for leading and managing multiple teams across different project streams including role justification and hiring
  • Responsible for leading and managing a variety of testing disciplines to deliver the highest quality solution
  • Responsible for defining the test environments and associated test data across in-house and 3rd parties
  • Responsible for allocating and tracking progress of prioritised tasks within the team and across 3rd parties
  •  Provide overall assurance against all testing completed
  • Provide clear communication of test status, issues & risks and escalate appropriately
  • Establishing and maintaining trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the teams 
  • Management of suppliers of testing services for all Quality Engineering activities applying best practice vendor management to assure quality and productivity
  • Active member and advocate of the internal Testing Community to drive knowledge sharing and common good practice across teams
Job Requirements:

Key Skills Required 

  • Experience of defining Test Strategies across in-house and 3rd parties
  • Experience of working in both Waterfall & Agile IT development model ensuring Quality Engineering is embedded as early as possible 
  • Broad experience with multiple technologies and platforms with a focus on data 
  • Knowledge of all the different facets of test coverage, including unit testing, functional, usability, accessibility, performance, capacity, security, integration testing, compatibility etc.
  • Experience of testing techniques that validates sensitive data with adherence to data policies (e.g. GDPR/PII)
  • Experience of managing testing/resource across complex E2E solutions with both in house and 3rd party builds
  • Excellent test planning skills across a complex environment
  • Defect management along with knowing which defects to escalate/flag, confident steering dev teams – in-house/3rd party
  • Experience of knowing when and where to use Test Automation. 
  • Experience of managing and reporting on test progress across a programme of releases including the management of any issues and risks in both a technical and business context
  • Experience of defining test environments and test data to optimize testing both in-house and 3rd parties
  • Experience of collating Quality Engineering test governance metrics and using this data to drive subsequent improvements to the Quality Engineering processes
  • Strong stakeholder management skills demonstrating business engagement up to senior management levels
  • Experience in creating and leading testing teams with a track record of motivating and inspiring them
  • Experience in managing offshore test teams
  • Previous line management experience

Location and Hours of Work 

We operate a Hybrid Working policy which gives employees in our M&A functions everyday flexibility in where they work, helping our orange spirit to thrive. We expect you to come to the office 3 days per week. 

This role is 40 hours per week.
