Barnes Force and Motion Control (FMC) SBU has an exciting career opportunity for a dynamic engineering professional to lead its engineering function for the Americas and the ASRaymond global brand. As Regional Engineering Director, you will play an integral role in leading and directing the team to ensure the effective planning and execution of a “robust” engineering team. This manager will lead all aspects of the engineering function and facilitate the design of innovative tools, procedures, and methods as well as provide technical guidance to their teams and leadership to support the diverse needs of our customer portfolio. This role is integral in partnering with business leaders to support the development of new products, services, and value-added opportunities within the industries. Core Responsibilities:

  • Act as an integral member of the regional leadership team by actively supporting the successful planning and execution of the region and brands growth strategy to meet and exceed short-term and long-term sales and profitability targets.
  • Support and align new product resources and processes to effectively support the regions growth.
  • Develop and implement process and product engineering resources supporting sales.
  • Empower teams with a leadership/management style that is collaborative, inclusive, and balanced in approach to achieve commitments. Identify, leverage, and share best practices across the businesses as appropriate.
  • Implement the organizations research and development policies, objectives, and initiatives with a focus on “engineering development” innovation. Ensure alignment with Barnes standards.
  • Monitor, benchmark and maintain leading edge technology to advance creativity and innovative solutions across the business. Collaborate internally with other engineering teams to explore and develop technical solutions to challenging customer needs and engineering problems for next-generation products.
  • Assist in the advancement of smart factory development within distribution and manufacturing locations.
  • Lead, model, and drive the Barnes Growth vectors, FMC strategic themes and values to drive transformation efforts. Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure the implementation of the robust Next Generation future state strategy.
  • Identify, implement and measure key performance indicators to ensure attainment of short term and long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Operate as a strong team leader and team builder focused on generating results through collaboration, influence and relationship building as much as direct line authority.
  • Serve as technical authority for all innovation and engineering matters
  • Establish technical roadmaps around new products and technology in alignment with Marketing and Product Management.
  • Lead and ensure the successful implementation of profit and productivity improvement initiatives as they relate to the business plan/strategy.
  • Attract, develop, and retain qualified, talented people, creating and sustaining a high-performance culture. Organize the function to execute and deliver results on a consistent basis - the right way, every day.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8+ years of Engineering experience required in operations, manufacturing environment, or other industrial technical environment.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience effectively leading remote, hybrid and onsite teams.
  • Prior experience in a technical sales or applications engineering capacity, required.
  • Prior new product introduction experience required
  • Prior experience working in a heavily matrixed global business environment, preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to develop strategies based on VOC, VOM, sales and engineering capabilities and know-how.
  • Strong project management skills. Proven negotiation skills.
  • A proven track record of implementing and successfully executing strategies to build and sustain a high-performance work environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership effectiveness (EI). Must be an effective change leader; balances consistency with flexibility, able to navigate ambiguity and willing to change ideas in the face of new information; cultural awareness and organizational astuteness.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to think strategically with demonstrated accomplishments. Proven ability to meet and exceed customer service requirements. Views opportunities for digitalization/innovation/automation to facilitate continuous improvement and enhancement.
  • Views data analytics as critical to decision-making; and leverages it to formulate plans and execute on them
  • Impeccable integrity; superior interpersonal skills; able to communicate and engage personnel at all levels of the organization.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in engineering (preferably mechanical engineering) required.
  • Advanced Engineering degree, preferred.
