Job Role:

A vacancy exists for a Senior Requirements Engineer to join the System Engineering, Engineering Integration & Governance (SEEIG) Team for the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) Aquisition Programme (AP) and the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP).

FCAS AP and GCAP is a strategically important programme that delivers the concepting, design, development, build and flight test of the next generation air system. The programme is currently transitioning from the concept phase to the system definition phase. The role will aim to provide requirements guidance to the technical teams and support development of the key processes to enable programme success.

The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Developing tri-nationally agreed requirements management and requirements engineering processes.
  • Coordinating and communicating with the technical teams.
  • Utilising DOORs to capture and manage requirements.
  • Informing the decision on future requirement management toolsets.
  • Reporting requirements status.
  • Ensuring artefacts are delivered in line with programme timescales to a high quality.
  • Supporting a culture of continuous improvement.

There are a number of elements to this role:

  • Developing engineering processes.
  • Working with and guiding the development teams, and specialisms within the SEEIG organisation on requirements good practice.
  • Working alongside the Product Technical Managers to ensure technical coherency and that the right product is engineered in the right manner.
  • Supporting the transition from “normal operations” to a “digital operation”

A key element of this role will also be working alongside international and national partners, learning from a culturally diverse team.

Key Attributes:

  • A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent relevant experience (must include a minimum of 5 years relevant engineering experience across a broad engineering lifecycle).
  • A good working knowledge of DOORS.
  • Good working knowledge of systems engineering, technical requirement management from capture through to verification, validation and acceptance.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • System thinking and growth mind-set
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Leverage diverse cultural perspectives and experiences to enhance business performance.

Desirable:

  • Operational analysis, system architecture, test and evaluation, modelling and simulation, or system qualification
  • Experience of modelling using SysML, UML languages and/or use of the MOOD/ CAMEO toolset
