Job Summary
The Safety Engineer is a key member of a cross-disciplinary team driving the design, development and execution of the pilot control, actuation systems and cockpit solutions programs for the next generation of military and commercial
aircraft. The Safety Engineer works on the development of new products, and the improvement and sustainment of products. Engineering duties will span the entire product lifecycle, from initial design and requirements capture through manufacture and field support. The Safety Engineer will focus on the development, deployment and execution of system safety analysis, systems
safety analysis methods and solutions.

Essential Job Functions
 Performs tasks and analyses in the following areas: Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), System Safety Analysis (SSA), Risk Assessment, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and reliability analysis.
 Understand the complex integration of airplane systems, airplane integration into the operational environment and that the airplane safety deliverables directly feed airplane design and compliance and require extreme
attention to detail as well as a healthy engineering curiosity.
 Safety and Reliability support of reviewing: Design Engineering creation of Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis
(DFMEA) in creation in accordance with applicable standards.
 Responsible for reliability analysis. The Reliability Engineer is responsible for performing reliability predictions (MTBF, MTBUR) by using modern statistical methods and employing industry guidelines and best practices to
analyze and predict risk of failures for flight critical systems.
 Will be an integral member of program Change Control Boards (CCB) to review the preparation of documentation with the end goal of system qualification and product certification of a Safe and Reliable product.
 Support trade studies and proposals for new Aircraft Programs and advise on safety related items.
 Reviews supplier reliability predictions, FMEAs and FTAs in support of development of Aircraft and System Safety Analyses.
 Guide the development of safety documentation to support customer/contract requirements.
 Analyze the integration of complex airplane systems and corresponding airplane-level effects, failure indications, and flight crew actions, a system of systems analysis.
 Provide safety design and analysis expertise to program stakeholders and leadership.
 Apply knowledge and understanding of the requirements and methods for showing compliance to 14 CFR 25.1309.
 Requirements development for aerospace systems.
 Operational and Functional Analysis applied to the development of new aerospace products and systems.
 Establish quality and reliability requirements for suppliers.
 Collect field data and find root causes of failures.
 Apply engineering knowledge and specialist techniques to prevent or to reduce the likelihood or frequency of failures.
Job Requirements:

Education/Experience
 Bachelor's degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, mathematics, computer science or physics with aerospace experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and aerospace experience.
 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
 Must be a self-directed individual requiring minimal supervision
 Understands and is proficient with project management, engineering documentation requirements, and engineering analysis tools.
 Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
 Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, policies, and compliance requirements.
 Knowledge or experience in aerospace, electrical, or mechanical systems.
 Understands the safety and environmental implications of architecture decisions required for aerospace applications.
 Ability to work closely with internal and external customers at engineering and management levels with minimum supervision.
 Experience presenting technical plans or speaking on technical topics to project teams, customers or other groups as required.
