Description:As a safety professional, you will be part of the Safety Management System (SMS) Team and will ensure that aviation safety related policies and procedures meet all SMS requirements. The position will support the Aviation Safety and Airworthiness (AS&A) SMS Team in all aspects of proactively identifying future aviation hazards that may impact the organization. This role is specifically focused on aviation safety report investigations, safety performance monitoring and measurement, safety performance assessment, and continuous improvement. It provides the necessary checks and balances required to maintain an industry leading SMS.

The Safety Management System Engineer will:
• Investigate employee SMS reports to include coordination with the appropriate SMEs in a timely manner. Provide feedback to the originator and track to closure.
• Continuously monitor the performance of the SMS, to include policies and procedures, and report any need for program improvement to applicable process owners and leadership.
• Collect and analyze safety data, as required, to evaluate the performance of risk control measures.
• Conduct annual reviews of SMS documents to ensure they remain current and relevant.
• Escalate significant SMS risks to the SMS team and leadership.
• Establish procedures to document and follow-up on the correction of hazards / deficiencies identified during inspections.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical thinking and business acumen, be highly collaborative, exhibit exceptional organizational skills, demonstrate proactive thinking, operate autonomously, as appropriate, and produce superior work products under short deadlines. Candidate must be willing to work effectively in a team environment.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Ability to obtain Secret-level security clearance and US Citizenship required to start.

• Knowledge of DCMA INST 8210 and 14 CFR Part 5; Familiarity with MIL-STD-882

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
