Job Summary


 



At DRS Daylight Solutions, the Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a team of engineers on performing on highly complex functions in the design, fabrication, modification and/or evaluation of manufacturing operations in various product lifecycle stages; plan, conduct, and review project progress and evaluate results including on time and on budget;  ability to manage a technical group independently.


Job Responsibilities


 



•    Manage a team of engineers to successfully complete complex activities on time and on budget

•    Manage a technical group independently while ensuring alignment with engineering, program, and production leadership

•    Assign tasks for all manufacturing engineering personnel to include setting priorities and adjudicating conflicts

•    Implement right-size manufacturing solutions for manufacturing problems within technical and program constraints

•    Communicate daily with senior production leadership to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing execution

•    Establish and maintain a manufacturing specialty cross-training curriculum with financial benefit to manufacturing programs

•    Lead defense manufacturing portfolio, including development, across all product lifecycle stages

•    Develop manufacturing plans, manufacturing flows, test requirements, and capacity models for defense portfolio.

•    Brief customers professionally as the manufacturing engineering subject matter expert

•    Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer

•    Lead accurate estimation and planning for manufacturing on all proposals and basis of estimates (BOEs)

•    Execute highly complex functions in the design, fabrication, modification, and/or evaluation of manufacturing operations

•    Perform all supervisory tasking to include employee reviews, timesheets, etc. 

•    Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization


Job Responsibilities Part II


 



•    Implement lean manufacturing tools and processes

•    Implement and maintain policies and procedures for development, implementation, and maintenance of test equipment

•    Develop and/or improve manufacturing equipment and tooling

•    Support Design for Excellence (DFX) to include design for manufacturability, assembly, test, inspection, and cost

•    Support the mitigation of Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) and Obsolescence

•    Support quality initiatives to include AS9100 Certification, yield improvements and nonconformance reduction

•    Support engineering initiatives as the manufacturing engineering subject matter expert

•    Support calibration process and requirements

•    Ability to obtain and maintain DoD clearance

•    Other Duties as assigned



 


Job Requirements:
Qualifications

 

•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience

 

The expected pay scale for this position is $138,087/year - $215,380/year. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, DRS Daylight Solutions considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education/training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
