As a Senior Principal AEH Engineer on the A2G program, you will play a key role in designing and certifying a complex device that will serve as the foundation for safety-critical commercial and military avionics products. You’ll collaborate with a talented team, tackle challenging certification processes, and make a direct impact on aviation safety and performance.
What YOU will do:
Develop Certification Plans: You will write and execute certification plans for complex devices, ensuring compliance with FAA AC 20-152A and AC 00-72 standards.
Identify and Mitigate Certification Risks: You will proactively assess and mitigate risks throughout the certification lifecycle.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: You will adhere to strict FAA guidelines while supporting safety-critical certification efforts.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: You will work with engineering, certification, and program teams to meet product milestones.
Drive Continuous Improvement: You will contribute to refining certification processes and best practices.
What YOU will learn:
You will gain in-depth expertise in DO-254 certification for avionics hardware.
You will develop advanced skills in AEH (Airborne Electronic Hardware) risk mitigation and compliance strategies.
You will enhance your knowledge of civil certification applications, working with high DAL (Design Assurance Level) systems.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62
DO-254 certification experience.
Ability to identify and mitigate certification risks associated with AEH and IMA (Integrated Modular Avionics).
Experience with ASIC-class COTS IP in high DAL civil certification applications.
Solid understanding of FAA AC 20-152A & AC 00-72.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience with avionics systems in both commercial and military applications.
Familiarity with certification audits and compliance reviews.
Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams in safety-critical environments.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
