Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a highly motivated Senior Principal Hydraulics Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test & Evaluation organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
In this role you will be the subject matter expert for the hydraulics subsystem for structural test. You will be defining and championing system improvement initiatives as they become necessary and serving as an engineering representative in the supplier management team for all suppliers providing components of the subsystem.
The successful candidate must also be able to prepare and present effective technical briefs on varying topics for all levels of consumption (i.e. user, customer, program leadership, etc.). They must also have experience working with diverse technical teams.
Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Performing system analysis to serve specialty engineering needs.
- Defining and documenting changes and revisions to the subsystem
- Providing direct response to subsystem needs as they arise from the user, the customer, and/or program leadership.

Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related professional/military experience.
- Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
- Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) software and Product Lifecycle Management tools to analyze & interpret technical data.
- Experience using CATIA V5 or other modeling software to examine 3D models.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with office tools, including Windows OS and the Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with hydraulic system design and analysis
- Experience applying Siemens AMESIM, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar analysis tools to hydraulic subsystems
- Experience using TeamCenter Engineer and Enterprise to locate and examine technical data
Salary Range: $118,600 - $178,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
