Key Accountabilities:
- Design and develop detailed plans, system architectures, and specifications tailored to project or site-specific requirements, ensuring seamless implementation of high-performance electronic and software systems that meet operational, technical, and safety standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Subject Matter Experts and other stakeholders to define system and software requirements.
- Take full ownership of the product lifecycle, from vision and strategy to development and deployment, ensuring it meets customer needs and regulatory requirements while driving continuous innovation and improvement.
- Apply rigorous software development practices, including coding standards, testing, verification, and validation, to meet safety-critical aviation and ISO requirements .
- Stay tuned-in to industry advancements, incorporating emerging technologies and best practices to continuously improve hardware & software systems and the product development cycle.
- Manage or participate in large multi-disciplined projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Provide technical support for national capital program development and formulation of national strategies to meet operational needs.
- Provide prompt assistance and expert guidance when requested to investigate technical problems with in-service operational systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Actively promote a Safety and Quality culture within Navigation Systems Engineering which ultimately will be reflected in the quality of the finished product delivered to the client group.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to colleagues, fostering an inclusive workplace culture promoting industry best-practices in systems development.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Communications, Computer Systems, Electrical/Electronics, Software) from a recognized Canadian university.
- Professional Certification: Member or eligible to be a member in a Professional Engineering Association in Canada.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years work experience in the planning, design and implementation of safety or mission critical systems.
- Proven ability to independently deliver medium to large-scale projects with excellence.
- Robust hardware and software engineering and development experience with a proven track record of designing, developing, and deploying high-quality solutions.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing system documentation and collaborating with clients to gather requirements and design specifications.
- Extensive experience preparing test and verification procedures.
- Experience in developing, testing, and deploying both hardware and software solutions.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and backlog management tools.
Knowledge :
- Strong understanding of modern software engineering processes, coding standards, and best practices.
- Knowledge of software construction, database design, and client server system design.
- Thorough knowledge and demonstrated skills in project management methodologies, techniques, and disciplines for large projects.
- Strong knowledge of software control and development techniques.
- Strong knowledge of theory and principles of engineering science and Professional engineering standards and practices in your speciality.
Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to write technical specifications, standards, statements of work and other engineering documents.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize technical information, research best practices and emerging technologies, and develop strategic recommendations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, working under pressure, and meeting tight or conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to research potential development solutions and best practices and to learn new technologies, domains, and tools.
- Creative and innovative approach to solving problems.

Working conditions
- Occasional travel may be required.
