Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025.

Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate Manufacturing Software Engineer to help our team. As part of the Enterprise Operations team, you will design, implement, and deploy software solutions to streamline manufacturing data collection, movement, and analysis.

The position includes working with the various design, manufacturing, integration, and assembly technicians, engineers, and leads to understand the needs of manufacturing and provide streamlined transactional applications that maintain the traceability of our vehicle. You will work with engineering, quality, planning, inventory, IT, business systems, and others to integrate lean manufacturing into our suite of enterprise business applications.Locations:San Carlos, CAMarina, CA

Responsibilities
  • Work with the Manufacturing teams to understand roadblocks, and then design, develop, and implement time saving functionality
  • Collaborate with business customers and subject matter experts to thoroughly understand enhancement requests and take action to provide robust, scalable solutions
  • Enable speed of use of applications and tooling on the manufacturing floor
  • Follow established software development practices
  • Multi-functional collaboration during all phases of project development and deployment
  • Transparent communication with the team on progress and blockers
  • Build and Maintain software tools to allow other systems and users to visualize and analyze process data
  • Implement interfaces and middleware to allow seamless integration across company systems
  • Design, document, and provide quality control on software for use in manufacturing
  • Maintain and update custom application configuration and code using Github.
Required
  • B.S. in Software Engineering or relevant discipline
  • 2+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong software programming knowledge (Python preferred)
  • Strong MES and relational databases exposure
  • Familiarity with commonly used industrial communication protocols
  • Working Knowledge of REST APIs and GraphQL (Prismatic a plus)
  • Experience mapping data elements between applications
  • Front-end web development knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office products
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
Desired
  • Experience with First Resonance ION
  • Experience working with a Manufacturing Execution System in a high-speed production environment.
  • Experience with Informatica
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes deployments
  • Experience with FAA requirements and AS9100
  • Code management, testing, and documentation tools experience

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $83,200 - $136,600/annually. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
