Job Summary
As a software engineer for DRS Naval Electronics, you will apply your technical and development experience to solve software design-related problems for components and subsystems in our portfolio of US Navy electronics infrastructure solutions. Job focus areas include participating in software engineering activities in design, development, testing, modification, and the sustainment of software products throughout the product life cycle.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, the candidate will be responsible for assigned technical solutions. Primary and essential accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Full software lifecycle support including analysis, requirements, design, implementation, testing, configuration management, deployment, and OS configuration.
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently under supervision of others and provide regular reporting of progress and status. Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements.
- Support software qualification efforts, development of test software and qualification plans, test activities, and failure analysis efforts.
- Develop and present software-related material to support internal project reviews.
- Create and process documentation updates including generation and maintenance of reference data.
- Participate in Internal Research and Development (IR&D) projects, which may include prototype design and development.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications
Technical degree (Master or Bachelor of Science) in relevant field (Computer Science or related field of study) with entry level software development experience.
Capable of achieving project objectives and be able to interface with various levels of internal management as well as program sponsors and sub-contractors. The following skills are expected, though applicants are not required to have every skill listed:
- Fluency in at least one of the following programming languages: Java, C/C++.
- Familiarity with software design processes and tools using UML.
- Fluency in developing in and for Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with software and system integration test practices.
Bonus Qualifications
The following are additional skills that would help applicants:
- Fluency in developing in and for RedHat Enterprise Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with Agile Scrum development practices.
- Familiarity with software lifecycle processes such as continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and Development Security Operations (DevSecOps).
