L3Harris Additive Manufacturing Technology Center in Daytona Beach, FL is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (Additive) to support process improvements, parameter development, and implement automation solutions for high profile programs using the latest in additive technology. This position is responsible for collaborating with the dynamic team at Daytona Beach to support the implementation of new processes, process improvements, advanced process controls and automation to advance the production of additively manufactured rocket motors across multiple printing technologies.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate the launch of the latest Additive Manufacturing (AM) equipment following manufacturers instructions and established procedures.
- Research, develop, test, and implement optimal process control for cost effective Additive Manufacturing.
- Lead operation activities to implement advanced process controls through data analytics in AM to reduce variation, improve reliability and repeatability.
- Integrate automation into AM process to improve safety, quality, and reduce waste.
- Implement and utilize digital manufacturing, in-situ monitoring, and data analytics to monitor the health of AM processes and equipment for predictive maintenance.
- Implement industrial manufacturing best practices for a visual workplace.
- Support the installation and development activities for brand new automated production cells.
- Manage the schedule, acquisition, and installation of capital equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant engineering experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related engineering experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related engineering experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 3 years of experience with Laser Powder Bed metal additive manufacturing (EOS, GE Concept Laser, SLM Solutions).
- Masters degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical.
- Working knowledge of additive simulation software.
- Working knowledge of robotics and automation.
- Working knowledge of Heat Transfer and Thermal Dynamics with a focus on Additive Manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of Laser Welding theory, concepts, and or applications with a focus on Additive Manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of lasers and optics systems.
- Working experience in utilizing Big Data & Industry 4.0 techniques and concepts.
- Experience with automation in manufacturing work environments.
- Experience with SolidWorks, Creo or similar CAD software.
- Fundamental understanding of Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma Concepts.
