Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSS) is seeking candidates for the position of Systems Engineering Manager 2 in the Systems Engineering Directorate of Tactical Space Systems Division (TSSD). This position will be located in Dulles VA.
The new manager will be responsible for managing 10-15 technical personnel in the Specialty Engineering department. Duties will include ensuring qualified and experienced personnel (and supporting design and analysis tools and other resources) are applied to meet the staffing needs of programs, and tracking/executing peer reviews for major program events. The role includes all aspects of staff management, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching/mentoring, career development, performance management, compensation management, and separation of assigned employees.
The selected candidate is expected to be self-directed and leverage previous experience to effectively lead a department responsible for Specialty Engineering activities performed for programs across the division. As the Systems Engineering (SE) functional lead for these areas, the prospective candidate should have extensive experience one or more of the Specialty Engineering disciplines, as their duties will include leading and performing Specialty Engineering activities. The following four engineering disciplines in the Specialty Engineering group are concerned with spacecraft interactions with the environment (during development and once fielded):
This role will be split between functional management duties, which will take up approximately 20 of the time, and direct-charge program duties for the remaining 80. The direct program efforts will consist of System Engineering (SE) technical work as a subject-matter expert (SME) in at least one of the Specialty Engineering disciplines supporting programs in the CCS, SM and/or SPS business units.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
General/Management responsibilities include:
Lead technical-staff planning, assignments, career development, performance assessments and compensation management activities for the assigned Systems Engineering staff.
Support pre-proposal analysis, proposal development, mission and system analysis, specification and interface development, design review, testing, problem resolution and customer interactions
Interface with internal and external customers and associates in engineering, manufacturing, integration and test, safety and mission assurance, and program management.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 5+ years of experience

Salary Range: $156,500 - $234,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
