Sr Advanced Embedded Software Engineer- C / Linux

Contract Position

$65.99-$70.99/Hour

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and deliver embedded software for current and next-generation torpedo guidance and control systems for the Department of Defense.
• Develop middleware improvements for Naval embedded systems, enhancing system architecture and capabilities.
• Lead all phases of software engineering, including architecture design, requirements analysis, development, documentation, integration, and testing.
• Provide technical leadership, troubleshoot/debug real-time high-assurance systems, and drive the full software engineering lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance, security, and safety requirements are met.
• Engage with customers to review project progress, address issues, gather feedback, and contribute to technology roadmaps.

Qualifications:

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.

  Clearance Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance.

  Experience and Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience with C programming and Linux (including shell scripting and command line).
  • Expertise in embedded real-time systems development and message-oriented middleware.
  • Proven experience in software architecture, technical leadership, and full software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with DevOps practices (version control, branching strategies, automated build/test/deploy).
  • Applied experience with Agile/Lean principles in software development.

• Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AMQP, Data Distribution Service (DDS), and other message-oriented middleware.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as GPIB, RS232, and SPI.
  • Proficiency with lab equipment like oscilloscopes, DMMs, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience working in waterfall and Agile development environments, meeting customer-driven milestones.
