Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a highly motivated Staff Structures Design Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test & Evaluation organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
In this role you will be the subject matter expert and resource for the Structural Test Design team. You will lead and provide mentorship to less experienced engineers during Critical Design Review (CDR) and Preliminary Design Review (PDR). You will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging, data-driven presentations tailored to internal leadership and external customers.
Note: This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Reviewing designs for compliance, technically and requirements.
- Coordinate design criteria with Internal Customers, Vendors, Test Engineering, EHS and Facilities Personnel.
- Evaluating design factors, taking into account ease manufacturing, cost, safety, maintenance and end user.
- Identifying design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements.
- Analyzing damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling.

Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 12 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience.
- Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) software, NX10, and/or GD&T
- Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
- Must have the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary, to support flight test and lab schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Structural Test experience across multiple engineering disciplines
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Extensive professional experience with NX10 and GD&T
Salary Range: $147,700 - $221,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
