Roles and Responsibilities

  • Create definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 2D cross sections, 3D models, tolerance stack-ups, and various electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection.
  • Create CAD models and drawings using company sponsored CAD systems. Check, validate, and issue master models and drawings.
  • Skill to work on proposal for additive manufacturing, from defining the 3D modeling through printing to post-process to deliver physical parts.
  • Strong knowledge defining standard harward using part families.
  • Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements.
  • Understanding of Design Change Documentation and requirements and execution of changes
  • Define dimensional constraints and geometric tolerances required for proper clearances and fits while maximizing manufacturing capabilities.
  • Capable of performing Stack-ups
  • Skilled working proposal for additive manufacturing, from defining 3D modeling concepts to print out, until have it ready for delivery.
  • Manage Concurrent Engineering processes and understand input from the different engineering disciplines.
  • Support project-planning schedules, including resources, needs, funding, and product definition releases. Concurrently work on multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality, and ensuring schedule requirements are met.
  • Identify product improvements.
  • Check detail drawings and models.
  • Ensure that interface characteristics between components are established and agreed upon by Designers of mating parts.
  • Continually learn and apply latest techniques relative to computer aided design software and Data Management Systems (DMS).
  • Be up to date and be a recognized leader in own technical specialty
  • Provide Technical Support to cross-functional teams to improve or resolve form and fit of components.
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal and external GE customers through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data.
  • Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams, mentor others in the organization.
  • Engage with manufacturing to perform producibility reviews
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to incorporate concepts to meet design intent and defend design proposals.  

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Design, Aeronautical Engineering or similar
  • Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position
  • Must be able to maintain a normal day-to-day fluid conversation in English on any topic with few mistakes (mistakes that do not affect clear understanding). Must have fluency, rhythm, and sufficient self-confidence in the language to be able to handle meetings and conversations.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (ASME Y14.5M, or applicable) relative to the function.
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate with Senior Leadership.
  • Capable of coaching others to accomplish assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing projects across functions.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in establishing common goals and objectives.
