Summary:

    Perform stress analysis and related activities for new and derivative designs of interior furnishings and amenities for outfitting new aircraft.

    Review engineering models and drawings, prepare load calculations, and write stress reports in collaboration with the Structural Engineering group and Structural ARs for approvals.

    Analyze designs such as custom cabinetry (galleys, lavatories, closets, storage compartments), interior peripheries, water/waste systems, entertainment equipment installations, and seating installations.

    Conduct analysis of airframe modifications to meet interior installation requirements, including aircraft-level analysis like decompression and floor loading.

    Utilize classical hand analysis and Finite Element Modeling (FEMAP with Nastran) for stress analysis.

    Ensure compliance with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR - especially Chapter I, Part 25) related to FAA regulation procedures and the STC process for Aircraft Interiors certification.

    Adequately review engineering designs using AutoCAD and CATIA V5.

    Demonstrate proficiency in FEMAP and NASTRAN, with excellent communication and report writing skills.

    Work on engineering projects with critical problems requiring major technological advances and extensive development.

    Lead entire engineering projects of major complexity within established scope.

    Make authoritative technical decisions and recommendations with significant impact on extensive engineering activities.

    Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge.

    Lead the development of innovative principles and ideas.

    Act independently to determine improved methods and procedures to optimize technical product, cost, and schedule requirements.

    Work under consultative direction, using independent judgment to accomplish objectives.

    Develop standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.

    Conceive and plan investigations in broad areas lacking engineering precedents that are critical to the program.

Required Skills:

    Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    13 years of experience in a specific technical discipline or 15 years of broad engineering experience across multiple technical disciplines.

    Advanced degrees (Masters or Ph.D.) can count for up to 2 years and 4 years of experience credit, respectively.

    Advanced degree in engineering or related field preferred.

    The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
