- Develop structurally sound designs for new and existing engine programs, review repaired and manufactured hardware for structural capability, and present results to customers.
- Perform structural analysis on turbine hardware using a combination of classical engineering calculations, PW tools, and finite element analysis; document analysis results and present them to management and customers; and support field investigations.
- Evaluate turbine hardware for strength, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to develop component designs for current and next-generation engines.
- Travel up to 10.
What You Will Learn:
- Application of finite element analysis software and fundamental stress/strain equations to the design of gas turbine engine components.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving techniques.
- Programming and automation methods for analysis calculations.
- Turbine component interaction and behavior during engine operation.
- Component manufacturing and refurbishment processes.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering or a STEM degree and 2 years prior relevant structures engineering experience; or an Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering or a STEM degree. Relevant experience such as: performing structural analysis on turbine or similar hardware using a combination of hand calculations, Pratt & Whitney tools, and finite element analysis.
