Job Title: Structures Liaison Engineer Intern

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Ensure that approved data is used in the development of EOs and EAs that are used for the maintenance, repair, and modification of fleet aircraft and appliances.
2. Obtain regulatory approval when required for modifications/ repairs performed on Kalitta Air structures and components.
3. Ensure that each repair and alteration is analyzed to determine whether it is major or minor per 14 CFR requirements.
4. Evaluate Federal Regulations, Notices of Proposed Rulemaking, ADs, SBs, SLs, and other notifications of in-service issues to ensure that the Kalitta Air Maintenance Inspection Programs are revised as necessary.
5. Ensure that all necessary engineering documentation required to complete assigned projects is developed within the allocated time schedule. Issue project status reports to show progress and compliance with the established timetable.
6. Interface with the Structures/Avionics Engineer Manager in order to assist in developing corrective action plans based on in service history defect data.
7. Coordinates with other Kalitta Air engineering staff to provide 24/7 technical support to Technical Services, Ground Operations, Flight Operations, and other Kalitta Air personnel.
8. Interface with manufacturers, maintenance representatives, MRO facilities, outside engineering departments, regulatory agencies, and other outside agencies. Provide liaison engineering functions with manufacturers, outside overhaul agencies, and engineering agencies.
9. Interface with FAA DER Engineers when required to support Kalitta Air repairs and modifications.
10. Develop product improvement modifications as directed by Kalitta Air management.
11. Support integration of repairs/modifications for new and previously operated aircraft.
12. Update manufacturer’s manuals and documents as applicable to ensure accuracy.
13. Participate in industry working groups, steering committees, meetings, and conferences as requested.
14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Have degree in an appropriate engineering field or a minimum of 5 years aircraft structural experience at heavy maintenance level.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write detailed reports and correspondence as required. The ability to write detailed engineering analysis reports desired.
