Northrop Grumman Aeronautical Systems (NGAS) is looking for a Support Equipment Design Engineering Manager 2 at the Melbourne FL location. This position is fully onsite with no remote work available
Candidate will be responsible for the execution and operations associated with the design, manufacturing, testing, and sell off of Peculiar Support Equipment associated with an aircraft program, and the procurement of Common Support Equipment. Responsibilities include leading a team to establish, plan, and deliver recommended solutions to functional requirements associated with program and project requirements.
Tasking includes the management of design concepts, preliminary and critical design reviews, guidance of test documentation, oversight of integration, validation, and verification activities, and interface with suppliers and customer for coordination. Candidate will be responsible for developing and executing to schedule and budgets within processes and program directives.
Candidate will be responsible for Earned Value Management (EVM) planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, and related group of work packages on a large system development type contract.
Candidate will be able to establish goals based on objective oriented tasking. General competence is required in Logistics and Product Support disciplines, including; Supportability Engineering, Reliability and Maintainability, Technical Publications, Training, Supply Support, and Support Equipment Design Engineering. Will be able to function and be accountable for tasking in an integrated work share environment, with detailed reporting responsibilities to upper Leadership. In addition, proposal and estimating, task and statement of work development are important aspects of this position.
This position will require oversight of projects and task assigned to the organizational group performed by employees. You will be expected to be involved only when required to assist in meeting schedules or to resolve technical or operational problems and may accomplish results through motivating and directing to senior employees. The supervisory relationship will be to accomplish results through lower-level subordinate supervisors or through experienced employees who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments. Candidate will have frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts. Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal external representatives concerning specifics operations.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited university AND 9 years of related professional/military experience in executing and leading mechanical and/or electrical mechanism design, manufacturing, and test efforts, OR a Master’s degree AND 7 years of related professional/military experience in executing and leading mechanical and/or electrical mechanism design, manufacturing, and test efforts.
- Demonstrated experience in proposal writing and estimating.
- Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of IPT/Program Management processes (CAM processes, project planning and scheduling, cost control, change control, EVMS, staffing, coordination and oversight of technical work effort and risk and opportunity management)
- Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a STEM field (Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing).
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
- Current Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).
- Demonstrated experience and a proven record of leading engineering teams in developing Support Equipment that meet quality, performance, cost, and schedule requirements
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in requirements management inclusive of development, derivation, validation and verification of requirements
- Experience working on both classified and unclassified Military programs
- Understanding the development and coaching for leadership and performance
- Experience leading a large department in a matrix environment
- Practice with earned value management (EVMS) and internal tools (i.e. Integrated Management Operating Model (IMOM))
Salary Range: $122,800 - $184,200
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
