Job Description:
In this position, you will be a responsible systems/software engineering leader for the Ground Based and Multi-Mission Air Defense product line groups in Syracuse NY, leading 16-22 systems/software engineers in the development of complex systems. Primary program support is for Army Radar products. Responsible for personnel management including staffing, administration, performance assessment, and feedback. Program area responsibilities include review and approving of functional proposal input and BOEs. Individual will own, execute, and status department level initiatives, and act as change agent in responsible area with focus on affordability and advancing technical capabilities and innovation. The manager supports and oversees the development and execution of engineering efforts including ensuring cost, schedule, and technical milestones are met. It is expected that the Manager will be > 50 applied doing direct program tasking in some type of leadership and/or technical capacity within the Ground Based and Multi-Mission Air Defense radar product areas. Minimum of 10-12 years or equivalent of System/Software Engineering experience in areas such as system design and synthesis, requirements analysis and management, system integration planning and execution, system test planning and execution is preferred.
Candidates must have the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance to at least the Secret level.
Syracuse Systems/Software Engineering Manager roles & responsibilities:
GENERAL
• Functional Manager managing an RMS Engineering and Technology (E&T) organization supporting the programs within the IWSS Sensors/Effectors Integrated Engineering organization.
• This Manager will be responsible for ensuring that appropriate engineering processes, technical personnel, and design tools are applied and managed.
• Staffing responsibilities include the projection and planning of appropriate staffing levels, recruiting and selection of interns, contractors, college hires and experienced professionals.
• This role oversees a very diverse and highly skilled set of engineers in E&T.
• The position will be responsible for program execution, driving technical and organizational strategy, instilling and maintaining engineering discipline, and enhancing employee experiences while focusing on functional management excellence.
PEOPLE:
• Facilitates and ensures technical vitality of functional team to meet current and strategic requirements
• Fosters career development and employee growth as: Technical contributors, program leads, functional leaders, and future business leaders
• Establishes and implements organizational training and development plans
• Fosters employee feedback, recognition, and engagement
• Proactively communicates with all constituents
• Ensures flow-down of tactical information and strategic vision
• Implements hiring, recruiting, and retention initiatives to meet near and long-term business needs
CUSTOMERS / GROWTH / FINANCIALS:
• Guides resolution of technical issues across programs within technical discipline
• Provides technical leadership and oversight of Systems Engineering program performance
• Ensures cost, schedule and technical commitments are met for all programs and products
• Ensures appropriate Basis of Estimates are applied, risks and opportunities identified, and approves cost estimates
• Deploys engineering subject matter experts, best practices, and reuse of product, component, and infrastructure across RMS
• Provides technology linkage and knowledge sharing across lin
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in EE, SE, Computer Science/Engineering, Physics or equivalent degree
- Ability to obtain DOD security clearance
- Knowledge and understanding of systems for testability, reliability, maintainability, and availability.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of systems engineering processes, the flow down of system requirements, and the interaction of system and subsystem requirements that result in a firm set of system and subsystem level performance requirements, subsystem integration, and system test.
- Strong risk management experience and expertise, including identification, mitigation and abatement planning and tracking
Desired Skills:
Broad background in systems engineering and with specific experience in Radar Systems Engineering, Software Engineering and/or Radar Integration and Test is desired. Ground Based Radar product experience is preferred.
Demonstrated interpersonal, team-building skills, strong work ethic and self-motivation. Strong customer focus with a proven record of outstanding customer satisfaction. Strong oral and written communications skills.
Experience with other advanced SE/SW techniques such as Agile and MBSD is a plus, as is experience in several key domains including architecture, analysis, design, trade studies, integration, and test.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $118,100 - $226,400 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $135,800 - $256,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
