About the role
In this role as a System Engineer, you will be responsible to manage & support Qatar Airways large Middleware server platforms that includes Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Server (EAP), Enterprise Web server (Apache httpd), Apache Tomcat, RedHat JBoss DataGrid and Microsoft IIS You are expected to provide efficient support of various business systems running on Middleware technologies in standalone and clustered environments which are hosted on-premises and in multiple clouds. You will be working along with airline’s lines of businesses, product vendors, infrastructure teams & third parties to provide engineering support for building new systems.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Configuration and maintenance of application server technologies like JBOSS EAP, Tomcat, Apache Web Server etc.
- Strong experience in application deployment strategies on standalone and clustered HA environments with knowledge of session replication, session stickiness & session management
- In depth knowledge on performance tuning of Java application server platforms specific to JDBC/Connection pooling/Heap/GC/threading/JMS etc. to perform system optimization
- Troubleshooting Application performance issues by analyzing thread dumps, heap dumps, core dumps, GC log, Mbean counters, and System base metrics to identify root cause for Memory / CPU bottlenecks.
- Strong knowledge on platform security such as sensitive password encryption, web server hardening, Certificate management using openssl and keytool to establish SSL handshakes between app servers & internal / external secure interfaces.

QualificationsAbout You
- Bachelor degree with 5 years of relevant experience
- Experience in platform upgrade projects in middleware technologies.
- Experience in supporting DR Switchover & BCP Drills.
- Strong experience in Linux environments, Shell Scripting, and observability commands.
- Good understanding of Windows Operating system with OS troubleshooting experience to support IIS Middleware platform.
- Experience managing .Net Applications on IIS 7/8/10 environments, monitor application pools, system response time / uptime and overall health.
- Advanced knowledge of networks, Load balancing, DNS resolutions and Firewalls.
- Strong working experience in a large-scale environment providing 24/7 production support for critical systems
- Solid troubleshooting skills and passion for problem-solving and investigation
- Strong working knowledge on Incident, Change (Planning & Execution) and Problem Management processes.
- Continuous learning to understand the product roadmaps and implement new features as required.
- Experience in creating SOP’s, Runbook automation and Level1 task`s handover documents
