Reporting to the Manager of Design Engineering, you will be responsible for the design, manufacturing, implementing, testing, troubleshooting and support for industrial facility systems, process equipment, machinery, and engine test systems for an industry-leading Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul organization for gas turbine engines and components. The Facilities Engineering group participates in industrial design & construction initiatives across an enterprise of over 30 sites worldwide.
We are currently looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our Central Engineering Design team. In this exciting and challenging role you will be providing Design Engineering support for Manufacture Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities and operations worldwide. You will be performing these duties utilizing state of the art CAD, stress analysis, direct digital manufacturing and advanced data capture devices like PCMM and optical scanning.
Specific Accountabilities
- Prepares designs, and engineering drawings and specifications in support of facilities, turbine engine assembly, disassembly, component repair, and testing.
- Applies mechanical engineering principles to ensure functional, safe, economical, ergonomic and reliable designs.
- Utilizes Computer Aided Design (CAD) system (2D and 3D solid modeling) in the development of project deliverables.
- Makes use of advanced data capture devices (Portable Coordinate Measurement Machines and optical/LASER scanning equipment) to develop CAD models in support of engineering design and other downstream applications such as performance engineering, stress analysis, CNC manufacturing and Fused Deposition modeling.
- Employs project management techniques to manage projects from concept through implementation.
- Prepares cost and material estimates, project schedules and reports, and procurement specifications.
Position Requirements:
- College diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma; or equivalent.
- Eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) by CTTAM or equivalent.
- Mechanical manufacturing design experience including Facilities equipment/layouts, close tolerance tooling, process support equipment, machine, structural and/or component design is an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of 2D and 3D computer aided design and drafting systems like Autodesk Inventor, Revit, finite element analysis knowledge is an asset.
- Ability to create and interpret engineering drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing using ANSI standards, local building codes.
- Good working knowledge of precision measuring instruments. Coordinate Measurement Machine or other non-contact scanning experience is an asset.
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel.
