What does the role look like?

Join the Engineering Management team to lead the strategic direction of the R&T programs that shape the future of Collins Aerospace portfolio.

You will work closely with Business Development and Program Management within cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive technology roadmaps ensuring alignment with customer demands and organization’s long-term vision.

Translating the technology road map into medium-term R&T projects and periodically reporting the projects progress to the Corporate is a key part of the role.

You will be supporting the proposal phase of new programs identifying the enabling technologies and technological challenges to be addressed in order to offer a product that is technologically and economically aligned to the customers needs

This role requires a deep understanding of actuation technology for aerospace, emerging technologies and aerospace.

You will need to understand and be capable to work with the initial definition and development of complex hydraulic, mechanical pneumatic systems.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration. Work closely with Business Development and Program Management and collaborate with operation functions to accomplish tasks,
  • Customer Meeting. Technical alignment meeting with customer to understand future development and need, including opportunity of collaboration on specific R&T
  • Technical Leadership. Capability to lead a group of engineers in analysing customer technical specifications, make advance design and prepare technical proposals targeted to acquire new business.
  • Team Leadership. Provide leadership and guidance to engineering team members, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Motivate and inspire team members to achieve project goals and deliver exceptional results. Foster a collaborative environment that promotes knowledge sharing and teamwork.
  • Documentation and Reporting. Capability to write clear and accurate documentation for customer in response to technical specifications. Capability to technically lead the team during Technical Proposal Phase.
  • Project Planning. Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and technical specifications. Prepare regular project status updates and present findings to the management team and key stakeholders.
  • Lessons Learning. Be active part of the lessons learned process aimed to collect lessons learned throughout the life of the project, collaborate to flow back learning into applicable Standard Work and procedures to improve future equipment.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Master degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of design, development, validation and verification practices of components and systems. A consolidated experience in aerospace is preferred.
  • +10 year of proven experience of successfully leading engineering projects team in delivering complex projects, preferably in an aerospace development context.
  • Good knowledge of project management techniques, including cost estimation, scheduling and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, demonstrating positive and collaborative attitude.
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Fluent Italian and English (written and oral)
  • Availability to travels between Italian sites and abroad

Desirable skills:  

  • PhD background
  • Experience in lead EU or GOV funding project.
  • Driving license.
