Test Engineer – Flight Physics

Job Description:

A vacancy for a Test Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defense & Space in Getafe Spain. The successful applicant will join the Integration Test & Analysis department - Flight Physics.

Mission of the department and skill group

At Integration Test & Analysis - Flight Physics we are at the heart of aircraft development, and the value it delivers to our customers providing independent testing being the first internal customer of Engineering. Our main mission is to provide testing services to all development loops along product/solution lifecycle to all flying platforms.

Responsibilities of the job holder

• Challenge and harmonize test orders/test requests in line with test strategy.

• Defines in detail the test method and means (Rig and Test tools Configuration…)  for ground test (virtual testing, rig testing, on aircraft ground test) in line with the provided input by the test strategy.

• Defines measurements plans with instrumentation specialists for flight test.

• Ensures test quality on external deliveries.

• Defines and writes test procedures and test cases.

• Contributes to elaboration of Flight Test program.

• Manages usage of telemetry room to perform real time analysis and support to flight test.

• Validates measurements and test results.

• Reports of the identified and classified problems in the associated reporting tools and/or with project/development agreed way of reports (including entries in reporting tools, Quick Notes, Test Report, qualification/certification reports.

• Shares the test results and conclusion with the design responsible.

• Performs verification for experimental flight approval.

• Contributes to the development, renewal and strategy for test means and testing process.

• Supports to secure the achievement of the integration maturity in line with planning.

Required skills

As the successful candidate you will have to be able to demonstrate some of the following skills and competencies:

• Applicants must have an aeronautical engineering or related discipline background with  previous experience in one of the following technical flight physics disciplines.

  • Flight Physics

  • Flight Mechanics

  • Aircraft design and performance

  • Flight testing experience would be a plus

• Programming skills in Python, Matlab

• You show an interest in pioneering the use of the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence and data analytics. 

• You must have a good level of communication in English.
