Description
Qatar Airways Group is looking for a Vice President to manage and oversee future developments of Qatar Airways Engineering Operations Control. The executive will be responsible for ensuring consistent operations and efficient performance of all contracted aircraft maintenance services, accomplished in a timely manner to the defined QCAA/EASA requirements and Quality standards required by company procedures. They will also ensure the operation is supported continuously through MOCC for operational dispatch reliability, minimizing or avoiding disruptions to the commercial schedule. The VP will ensure the operational window is protected through oversight of maintenance activities, management of deferred defects, and escalating operationally restrictive discrepancies to concerned sectional heads to ensure efficient liaison with IOC Management. It will be their responsibility to manage the on-time performance of outstations and to ensure effective and economised line maintenance support without jeopardising safety and company standard. In addition, they will ensure optimum resources/facilities are always available with the contracted or company self-handling station to accomplish required maintenance.

Strategic:
- Management oversight of Maintenance Operations Control to maximize and avoid disruptions to the commercial schedule by ensuring ‘day of’ dispatch reliability.
- Develop and enhance process and procedures to ensure continuous improvement of the quality and standards of the technical handling of QR flights at line stations and improved aircraft availability.
- Developing technical handling options for all the line stations under his/her management including new and existing.
- Budget preparation for the effective functioning of the department.
- Act as the single point of contact for all outsourced aircraft maintenance services to ensure checks are managed on time and on budget.
- Continuous monitoring of fleet maintenance standards to achieve or surpass on time performance.
- Oversee that all the appropriate legislative and company procedures are adhered to in order to ensure that the company remains compliant and airworthy.
Operational:
- Ensure ‘day of’ potential and real operational disruptions are communicated accordingly to the airline through IOC management. Managing all outstation AOG and delay events facilitating rapid recovery and communication through verbal and formal reporting processes.
- Manage regional line maintenance operations with a team of engineers, mechanics, contract and materials personnel to ensure all regional line maintenance activities are achieved in a timely and safe manner acceptable to authorities and company quality standards.
- Liaise with relevant sections to ensure required maintenance services are available at outstations.
- Ensure cost effective maintenance agreements in a manner acceptable to company quality standard.
- Monitor and assess daily aircraft maintenance operations at outstations to ensure maximum on-time technical dispatch and that quality of aircraft maintenance services is maintained.
- Monitoring of IATP pooling requirements or company spares/material provision at out stations.
- Responsible for oversight of all maintenance activities, deferred and repetitive defects with a potential to effect operations and escalate the discrepancies to concerned sectional heads for corrective actions.
- Overseeing regional line maintenance, billing and assess accuracy of man-hour and material and equipment charges.
- Ensuring and monitoring the contracted charges for third party aircraft maintenance services are well recorded to avoid any revenue loss to QR or over charge to customers.
- Track and monitor all serviceability aspects across the entire fleet on a routine basis analyzing and implementing corrective actions which will enable the operation to effectively utilize available ground time, ensuring a high standard of maintenance utilization of aircraft.
- Liaise with relevant internal and external sections/departments developing plans to address defects as required maintaining the integrity of the corporate schedule.
- Prepare reports required to monitor standards and present/review such reports at required meetings and chairing of such meetings as required.
- Ensuring the company health and safety policy and statutory requirements are met in respect of staff and premises.
- Overseeing adequate equipment and facilities are available for the smooth functioning of department activity.
- Manage and develop training program for staff to meet the current and future requirements in maintenance.

Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 10+ years of job-related experience.
- Maintenance background in a supervisory role.
- Sound Aeronautical and Airline background with detailed knowledge of modern aircraft and engine systems.
- Ability to plan and prioritise sequential completion of task and process for effective time management and revenue loss.
- High level of operational and tactical decision making.
- Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinates skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
Preferred:
- Degree in management.
- B1 or B2 EASA/QCAA license with commercial aircraft approvals.
