The role:

An exciting opportunity to join British Airways as a Finance Analyst has arisen!

You will be responsible for the oversight and control of the financial accounting and indirect tax payment processes in Passenger Revenue Accounting.

What you’ll do:
  • Provide comprehensive financial accounting, management accounting and reporting to the business to highlight issues and opportunities for improvement and/or cost reduction.
  • Prepare forecasts for releases to support financial evaluation of business decisions (past or expected)
  • Ensure our accounting rules are up to date within the PRA system and in line with business expectations and IFRS rules.
  • Ticket tax returns and ensure any under/overpayments are identified and reported to ensure corrective actions are submitted to the relevant authorities on a timely basis.
  • Monitor third party activities and support as and when needed to ensure suppliers can meet their contractual commitments.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
  • Analytical and problem solving skills including ability to manipulate, analyse and interpret complex financial and business data.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage, challenge and influence at all levels of the business.
  • Strong organisation and people management skills with the ability to manage internal and external partners on agreed deliverables.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity and able to interact with colleagues from different backgrounds.
Your experience:
  • A full professional finance qualification (CIMA/ACCA) and relevant experience is essential.
  • Strong understanding of finance theory and good level of practical finance experience in management accounting, financial accounting and internal controls.
  • Good understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements including Standing Instructions, Financial Standing Instructions, Financial Reporting Standards and International Accounting Standards.
  • Experience of managing third party supplier relationship and work process
