Job Description
The Financial Analyst - Budget assists with the development of financial models and the analysis of department and corporate statistical, cost and revenue information to support the organization’s objectives.
This position requires immediate Controlled Goods clearance, therefore, only Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents will be considered at this time.
Major Responsibilities & Duties
Accountability
- Provide financial analysis, including creation of financial models, in support of all bid activities
- Prepare, update, communicate, and support the Long-Term and Annual Defence Canada Maintenance Budgets
- Prepare, analyze and compile data for monthly billings
- Assist with month-end and year-end procedures
- Prepare monthly revenue, costs and analytical journal entries for the finance department
- Track labour hours, materials and other inputs, and compare to project budgets, highlight areas of concern and provide recommendations
- Work closely with the projects, planning and other teams to stay on track with the budgets
Support
- Create custom reports and presentations
Other related job duties as required
Core Skills
- Excellent communication skills: written and verbal; English is mandatory
- Works well with others and working within a team environment
- Mid to advanced computer skills: MS Office Suite, Strong Excel skills
- SQL
- Strong aptitude for business systems
- Ability to meet deadlines with a high degree of professionalism and accuracy
- Knowledge of accounting concepts considered an asset
Education
- Degree in Accounting/Business Administration/Finance or relevant discipline.
Experience
- A comprehensive understanding of the foundational principals and theories associated with the subject area and an ability to relate the concepts to the responsibilities of the job.
- 2-5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
