We believe that inclusion helps us thrive and grow at United across our collaborative Finance teams consisting of Financial Planning & Analysis, Internal Audit, Treasury, Global Procurement, Controllership, Investor Relations and more. These teams provide the financial fuel that keeps our operation running from providing detailed analyses of financial planning, performance, and forecasts to managing our investments and financial strategies. Our Finance team plays an integral role in making our airline profitable and successful by meeting our financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) department is responsible for overseeing Uniteds budget and forecast, long-term business plan, capital plan and financial analysis. FP&A acts as a challenging business partner, working closely with each organization at United to provide financial and strategic support. Analysts in the FP&A organization will gain in-depth exposure and experience in the airline industry, with assignments that may include:

  • Developing department-level and enterprise-wide annual and long-term operating revenue and expense forecasts
  • Aiding in the development of the annual capital plan and providing analytical support for capital investment decisions, with a focus on acquisitions of new aircraft and related equipment
  • Performing complex, ad-hoc analyses, in support of the short-term and long-term financial outlook
  • Developing profitability and cash flow forecasts
  • Analyzing cost trends, debt metrics, and capital expenditure metrics

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related area of study
  • Minimum 3 years of analytical work experience demonstrating increasing responsibility
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Track record of outstanding analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize a range of responsibilities and adapt as business problems change
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with others
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
  • MBA
  • Understanding of all three financial statements, including ability to build three statement models
  • Comfort working with executive-level materials, including the creation and support for quarterly Board of Directors meetings
  • Hyperion Planning, Oracle Financials experience
  • SQL, database querying ability
