Job Description:

Purpose  

The Lead Interiors Technician reports to the Interiors Manager or Shift Manager and receives daily priorities and task requirements from the Project Manager. The Lead Technician is responsible for assigning, supervising, instructing, coordinating and approving the work for all personnel assigned to their crew. The Lead Technician also performs all phases of repair, maintenance or modification on aircraft systems and/or component parts. Performs inspection, operational checks, ground handling, servicing, and the exchange or replacement of components as required.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides leadership, technical expertise and guidance while performing various modification and repairs of aircraft structures and systems to ensure a defect free aircraft.
  • Provide technical expertise in testing, troubleshooting and repairing system discrepancies to ensure minimum schedule impact. 
  • Demonstrate technical expertise and leadership by defining and implementing process changes to reduce cost and meet schedule without compromising Safety or Quality. 
  • Make available the necessary technical data, blueprints, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, airworthiness directives and any other required data. 
  • Ascertain that all necessary work records are properly executed by the responsible Technician.
  • Required to read sketches, drawing, and schematics associated with assigned task and have a good basic knowledge of where to find proper documentation such as SRM references.
  • Inspect, remove, repair and install aircraft interior pieces, including doors, galleys, seats, bulkheads, floor boards, emergency path lighting, gill liners, closets, galleys and lavatories.
  • Become familiar with and follow the requirements of this RSQM, Federal Aviation Regulations, Airworthiness Directives, Advisory Circular, manufacturer’s service bulletins and any other required references to perform their assigned work. Never begin any maintenance unless in possession of the proper, current and applicable approved or acceptable data.
  • Ensure the work area is kept to the highest standards of safety, compliant at all times, enforcing regulations and practices to avoid accidents. Ensure that good housekeeping practices are performed at all times.
  • Perform the proper tagging of Aircraft components, parts and panels appropriately stored (including racks by aircraft).
  • Perform documentation procedures and sign-offs in accordance with Repair Station Manual and respective task requirements.
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are correctly used and handled for both safety and to reduce breakages, wear and tear. Ensure tooling, GSE and ground equipment is returned to its proper storage area following use.
  • Strive for continuous process improvements and increasing efficiencies in execution and delivery with safety as a priority.
  • Deal with customers in a cordial, respectful and professional manner.
  • Ensure the highest quality service, safety standards and performance, with the objective of exceeding customer satisfaction in the re-delivery of airworthy, reliable and clean aircraft, in a timely manner.
  • Take part in any required training as determined by the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

  • This position has no direct management/supervisory responsibilities. The Lead Technician assigns tasks, provides technical guidance and monitors the accurate and timely completion of work.  

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Lead Interior Technician

REQUIRED

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Is required to be proficient in oral and written English.
  • Holds a valid and current FAA Mechanic certificate with an Airframe rating, or meets qualification and experience
     requirements for the issuance of a Repairman’s Certificate.  

PREFERRED

  • 3+ years aircraft maintenance experience on current fleet types being maintained or modified by the Repair Station.
  • 5+ years&39; experience on VVIP aircraft interior installation. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Able to perform intermediate/ major/heavy aircraft maintenance tasks with no supervision. 
  • Understand specific design and operation of installed aircraft structures to enable effective troubleshooting, repair and modification of systems and components.
  • Able to read, interpret and apply FAA approved or accepted data (i.e. IPC, M/M, OHM, SRM) proficiently.
  • Proven ability to work alone and in a team environment.
  • Effective decision-making skills. 
  • Dependability: personally responsible, completes work in a timely manner, and performs tasks accurately. 
  • Motivation: must maintain a positive attitude and strong work energy. 
  • Organization: very detail oriented and always comes prepared

Working Conditions

The work is performed in an office environment, aircraft hangar, at the departure gate or on the aircraft parking ramp.

  • Exposure to climate changes normally experienced in an aviation repair facility. 

OCCASIONAL  

  • Lift up to 50 pounds. 
  • Climbing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching.
