We currently have an opening for a full-time permanent AME S Apprentice specializing in Composites to be based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.
Reporting to the Structures Crew Lead, the Apprentice works in a supervised environment and performs repair, overhaul and modifications of aircraft composite structures and components. Working within a team environment, you are expected to operate under supervision and as suitable to your level of experience.
In this role your duties will include the following:
- Responsible for carrying out complex composite tasks in manufacture, repair, overhaul and modification of aircraft, aircraft parts, Conair products and systems.
- Liaises and cooperates with other departments to promote efficiency, project coordination and schedule accuracy.
- Complete safety tasks, assist in ensuring and promoting a safe work area.
- Responsible for interpreting drawings and blueprints accurately.
- Participates in the development and practicality of products, repairs or modifications and quality control.
- Adhering to Conair safety regulation, policies and procedures while performing their duties;
- Acts as a team player while assisting fellow employees in the performance of their duties in a professional and courteous manner;
- Maintains the Conair O.J.T. log book and keeps the T.C. log book up to date;
- At the end of their apprenticeship program (in a timely manner) begin working towards acquiring a T.C. license;
- Accept field assignments (as required) that could require being away for long periods of time;
- Basic knowledge of Conair information technology system as related to their learner level
- Maintain a clean and organized Composite/Clean room
We are looking for someone with:
- Knowledge of aircraft services and the maintenance required to assist in maintaining the aircraft in a serviceable and airworthy condition;
- Knowledge of safety measures required within the workplace;
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to change;
- Ability to take instruction; listen and follow direction;
- Skilled in working with tools, sheet metal, and mechanical and power machinery;
- Ability to work professionally within a team environment while promoting and maintaining a positive work atmosphere;
- Knowledge of CARs as related to aircraft maintenance;
- Ability to work outside in adverse weather;
- Can work at heights from a ladder for extended periods of time;
- Able to lift 30lbs to waist level;
- Willing to work beyond the normal shift period including weekends and evenings as required;
- Able to operate a vehicle for extended periods and travel internationally without restrictions.
Training/Education:
- Grade 12 diploma;
- Diploma in Structures from a Transport Canada recognized institution;
- Advancement based on satisfactory performance.
