The Back Shop Machinist plays a critical role in supporting the aircrafts final assembly line by fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision components and tools used in production. This position involves operating a variety of machining equipment, ensuring high-quality standards, and collaborating closely with assembly teams to address production needs.
Responsibilities:
Fabrication and Repair:
Machine Operation:
Operate and maintain CNC and manual machining equipment, such as mills, lathes, and grinders.
Calibrate and set up machines to ensure accuracy and precision in production.
Inspection and Quality Control:
Inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools to verify conformance to specifications.
Identify and resolve machining discrepancies to maintain production quality.
Preventive Maintenance:
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of work performed, including setups, measurements, and completed projects.
Communicate progress and issues to supervisors and relevant teams.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in operating CNC and manual machining tools.
Strong understanding of technical drawings, tolerances, and material properties.
Experience in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing preferred.
Relevant technical certifications are a plus.
